From the HOD’s Desk:
Welcome to the department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. Our department is mainly concerned with the treatment of malocclusions and dentofacial deformities and we provide contemporary orthodontic care to over a hundred patients every month. A robust OPDensures that more than 300 new cases are added each year resulting in ample clinical material for our trainee post-graduates. Our residents and faculty treat a wide variety of cases ranging from simple malocclusions to the most complex orthodontic problems. The department employs the latest techniques and advancements in orthodontic therapy such as Nemoceph software for treatment planning, lingual technique, self-ligation, micro-implants, orthognathic surgery and more to ensure the best clinical care to our patients and vast clinical exposure to our residents. The post-graduate program aims to train students to become competent and astute orthodontists while the under-graduate program imparts sufficient skill and knowledge to treat simple cases, co-ordinate treatment with specialists in more complex cases and to make appropriate referrals. As a post-graduate student, you can look forward to an enjoyable and rewarding experience while learning to become excellent clinicians.

DETAILS ABOUT DEPARTMENT :
The department of Orthodontia has a state of art equipments comprising of diagnostic setup like equipment. In addition we also have sophisticated equipments like a biostar, hydrosolder, spot welders, light cure equipment, trimmers, vibrators etc. Emphasis is paid on the sterilization for which we have autoclaves & steam sterilizer, in addition to cold sterilization. The Department has facilities for both visible & invisible braces, which are placed on the lingual aspect. We have metallic/ composite /ceramic braces options. Among the wires we have Teflon coated wires &newer technology wires. Newer treatment techniques like aligners, self-ligating brackets & skeletal anchorage system are routinely practiced by the resident post graduates. The department has a museum for the education of the patients and also for the students during their clinical postings.
Department is equipped with departmental library, in addition to the central library, which caters to the insatiable appetite of the young scholars. There is an availability of Record room to maintain the patients records, a photography room for clicking the extra oral photographs.
The department takes pride in its aspect of microteaching to the students and a frank face-to-face talk in ironing out the difficulties of the students.
